  • This is a big hole on the ground in the southwestern United States. I forget the name.

  • It is a little cliche but it is absolutely true that when you stand on the precipice you do realize how very insignificant you are.

  • What I like about this photo is also what I don't like about this photo. You can see a storm rolling in from behind me. They got about three to four inches of snow within an hour of my taking this photo.

  • I love this image! Especially the fact that you can see the moon in the center ofthe frame.

  • Shortly after taking this photo I left the park through the side entrance taking me through the Navajo reservation. It was dark, I was in the desert, had the windows down and the radio up!
I was probably going about 100 miles an hour and singing more loudly than I probably should. When suddenly I saw a flash out of the corner of my eye...see next photo

  • Immediately after the flash there was a thunderous noise that shook the truck. While I was rocking out to Golden Earring (Radar Love, of course) a huge elk probably between six and eight hundred pounds slammed into the front left quarter panel of my Chevy. See next photo...

  • The poor animal slammed into the front quarter panel and rolled into the driver's door and slid down the side of the truck. Leaving a huge bloody streak down the side of my white SUV. I went back to look for it (I am not sure why, I don't know exactly what I would do with a seven hundred pound injured elk. How would one go about putting it out of its misery without a gun? but I went back and it was gone, nowhere to be found, blood all over the side of the truck not a drop on the road) Luckily I had taken out insurance on my rental truck, which I never do. I like to think that it was merely a flesh wound and the elk ran away relatively unharmed. I guess I am a dreamer.
